Emergency Lighting is designed to activate if the mains power is cut off in the event of a fire or if there is a mains power failure.

The emergency lighting should provide sufficient light to show escape routes to enable occupants to evacuate the building safely, illuminate fire safety equipment such as call points and fire extinguishers and should stay lit for the minimum emergency duration (usually 3 hours) after a mains failure.

Emergency lighting should be tested monthly to ensure lights activate correctly in the event of a mains failure and return to charge correctly once power is restored. In addition, a yearly test of emergency lighting is required.

Asset Fire Solutions offers a full design, supply, installation and commissioning service for Emergency Lighting, according to BS 5266 part 1.
